3. Free Braille Instruction

If you are blind, want to teach blind people, or know someone who is blind, then this is for you …Blind SA offers Braille classes free to any blind person, as well as anyone working with blind people.

How does it work?

Just phone and book a time that suits you. Classes range from 1 to 2-hour classes. You can specify how frequently you want to come, depending on the free time available.

In class you are taught to read Braille, and write using either the Perkins Brailler or a slate and stylus.

I could also send resources and guidelines if needed.

I am in the process of being accredited by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), thus providing a better service to you.

With only 1% (2 500-3 000) Braille literate blind people in this country, there is a great need to empower more blind people with Braille. If you would like to teach Braille, I would be glad to help you by either teaching you, or providing you with resources.
